- Good knowledge and experience on any of the RDBMS
- Familiarity with software development methodology and specifications
- Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals
- Attention to detail, high-level programming, and related technical skills
- Analytical capabilities and logical approach to problem-solving
- Communication skills - including the ability to convey information to non-technical team members in a concise and clear way
- Hands-on knowledge in designing interactive applications
- Reviewing current systems
- Working closely with analysts, designers, and team members
- Producing detailed specifications and writing the program codes
- Testing the product in controlled, real situations before going live
- Ability to understand the end-user
- Have system-level thinking and ability to develop a system as a whole
