Shiprocket - Senior Director - Engineering - PHP/Laravel (12-15 yrs) (Shiprocket)

We are looking for a strong and passionate engineering leader to join our team as we scale the business 10X over the next few years.

Responsibilities :

- Internalize and understand the company's vision and objectives towards mid/large-size enterprises in India.

- Work in a cross-functional team environment where you are engaging with engineers, sales leadership, and seller success departments in addition to senior management to ensure the company's priorities are being met.

- Work with product management to set roadmaps; own the overall roadmap delivery by planning/tracking thru phases, milestones, and iterations in an AGILE environment by appropriate prioritization and feature-delivery trade-offs.

- Our world-class software engineers are just getting started and as a manager, you guide the way. You are their default mentor.

- You work closely with Engineering Leaders, Managers, Product Management, Business Development and Operations team and enable them by providing scalable and high-quality technology solutions at a rapid pace.

- You set up best practices for development and champion their adoption and at the same time Architect & design technically robust, flexible and scalable solutions.

- Ensuring we build for the right customer and yet again, questioning who the right customer for us is.

- Focus on solving problems by doing things that are right for the user.

- Be able to re-iterate as many times as required and drive decisions based on data and analytics.

- Create clear career paths for team members and help them grow with regular & deep mentoring. Perform regular performance evaluation and share and seek feedback.

- Able to establish credibility with managers and smart engineers quickly and provide longer-term vision and motivation.

- Great people skills to closely work with other teams. Product Management, Business Development, and Operations, all need your expertise to ensure superior solutions match our scale of operations.

- Very high technical competence, strong technical background with track record of individual technical accomplishments.

- Clearly communicate product plans, enhancements, new features and actually launch - mini-products. Be able to think through a feature from start to finish keeping in mind the impact on features, technology and ultimately the business.

- Be able to operate within fuzziness and a state of flux we truly are quite dynamic at our workplace.

- Perform well under uncertainty and work with unclear communication channels intra and inter-team considering that ours is an organization that's swiftly evolving.

Required Skill Sets :

- PHP-based MVC frameworks, Angularjs/React, MySQL, MongoDB, Elastic Search, AWS, Github, CI/CD. You may not need to have a deep understanding of the above tools but should be well versed with their respective practical application.

- Strong leadership potential

- Strong hands-on technology experience building and running large-scale systems.

- A confident, self-starter, team player with drive, enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.

- Excellent teamwork skills to manage and mentor managers and senior engineers under you.

- Ability to manage yourself and be a self-starter.

- Strong object-oriented design skills, and an uncanny ability to design intuitive module and class-level interfaces.

- Superior project management skills to manage multi-engineer mini projects on the journey of product development and experience of delivering high on time without any compromise on quality.
