About the Organization :
- The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a global research center working to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence. Anchored by a network of 171 affiliated professors at universities around the world, J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to answer critical questions in the fight against poverty. J-PAL South Asia, based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research in India, leads J-PAL's work in the South Asia region.
- J-PAL South Asia conducts randomized evaluations, builds partnerships for evidence-informed policy making, and helps partners scale up effective programs. Over more than ten years of existence, J-PAL South Asia has conducted 182 ongoing and completed randomized evaluations.
About the Position :
- J-PAL SA, based at the Institute of Financial Research and Management in India, seeks a Web Manager under its recently launched initiative Creating Learning Opportunities for Public Officials (CLOP) in India.
- The CLOP Initiative is a fund dedicated to supporting Government of India's Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and other Government training institutions in their efforts to assemble a global coalition of knowledge partners and universities. By working in close partnership with DoPT, the CLOP initiative will help create a platform that will provide lifelong learning opportunities to public officials in India to build their skills and knowledge across a wide range of domains.
- The Web Manager will play a key role in CLOP's initiative by conceptualizing, designing and implementing a project and developing the C-LOP website.
Responsibilities :
1. Design, implement and monitor front-end and back-end web architecture
2. Update and monitor content on all platforms regularly and troubleshoot issues
3. Design and develop servers and databases
4. Create the C-LOP website for optimal user interface and intuitive navigation
5. Design and provide support projects from conception to implementation
6. Develop and implement APIs and update other digital products like podcasts, web pages and data visualizations
7. Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and implement strategies
8. Monitor website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans
9. Analyse and report user insights and data to stakeholders and partners
10. Support J-PAL SA research, policy, and training teams on any other communications tasks, as needed
Qualifications :
1. Education : A bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in computer science or information technology, digital marketing or a related field. Coursework in economics/ policy is a plus
2. Experience : This is a mid-senior position requiring 9 to 12 years of relevant work experience. You will have excellent technical knowledge and extensive experience working with web content entry (Drupal), HTML/CSS, Google Analytics, and/or similar industry-standard tools. You have managed a team and provided support and guidance.
3. Skills : You have experience with stakeholder and project management and an aptitude for multimedia content production. You have the experience working with server-side scripting languages like Python or PHP and are able to create tools to ensure optimal user interface. You have worked with API integration and have excellent knowledge of Web Development disciplines
4. Communication : You are detail-oriented and have excellent writing, copy editing, and interpersonal skills. You are highly accurate and have displayed strong leadership qualities in the past. You are precise, clear, and creative.
