Job Description :
- As an Applications and Systems Support Engineer, you will be part of a Global Multinational Voice Wholesale Carrier Network.
- As part of Application and Systems Support Engineering Team, the responsibilities include day-to-day monitoring and smooth running of all applications. In the event of any failure ability to follow the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to resolve and recover the situation.
- In the event the issue falls outside the SOP, ability to analyze and correlate the underlying components and ability to identify the root cause. If needed escalate the issue to next higher level SME (Subject Matter Experts). The responsibility also includes providing support to issues/requests raised by internal business users.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge in UNIX/Linux/Windows Operating Systems with 8+ years of overall experience
- Strong in C++ application debugging ; analyzing core dumps in Unix / Linux systems
- Kernel mode and User mode application maintenance experience using Kernel debugging tools like MDB, KMDB, strace, pstack, dtrace, etc.
- Basic skills on Java ; NodeJS ; PHP ; Webserver applications
- Knowledge in DevOps, AWS provisioning (including Automation using Puppet / Chef)
- Extensive experience in Installation, Administration, Patching, Upgrades.
- Expertise or in-depth knowledge in LDAP, NIS, NIS+, NFS, DHCP, SAMBA, HTTP, FTP, SSH, DNS etc.
- Experienced in shell scripting using bash, Ruby and python to automate some of the repetitive tasks.
- Ability to grasp and provide internal support for tools like SAP Business Objects, JIRA,
- Experience in working with different monitoring tools.
- Expertise in creation of start-up and shutdown scripts, crontabs, files system maintenance and backup scripting and automation.
- Excellent inter-personal skills and the drive to complete tasks effectively, and efficiently where customer service and technical skills are demanded.
- Strong analytical capability in trouble-shooting and debugging skills that involving deep understanding of software, hardware, firmware and network layers/components
