Senior Backend Developer (PHP) [Kuwait/Remote]
Based in Kuwait, OptimizeApp is a digital marketing startup that simplifies the most complex marketing tools for businesses and makes their advertising as effective as possible. Our mobile app is live both on iOS and Android and has over 2,000+ businesses subscribed since launch.
Our software is built using various technologies and programming languages such as ReactJS, React Native, NodeJS, Python/Django, PHP/Laravel. We have multiple products some of which are mobile based, others which are web-based.
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to add to our hi-impact team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the development, testing, and implementation of new projects and features. You will interact with peers from all areas of the business to ensure new web features help improve the customer experience, marketing, and operations.

Mission:
- The Senior Backend Developer's mission is to make our systems serve our customers and the business effectively while minimizing risk. Act as a mentor to guide our tech team to make proper decisions through the development process. Lead the entire web application development life cycle right from concept stage to delivery and post launch support.
Accountabilities, Goals, and Outcomes:

- Development initiatives are effectively determined, managed, and executed
- Work with the team to understand process and system issues, initiatives, and priorities
- The development pipeline is finalized/set 1 month in advance always
- Manages time and expectations
- Accurately estimates and meets deadlines
- Items are tested from a developer and user perspective before go-live/submission for approval.
- Edge cases considered and planned for 10% of system errors reported per week
- Customers have an excellent experience with using our platform
- Significantly improve the customer's experience with using our application
- Customer feedback on system errors reported per week
- Manage risk
- Necessary development documentation prepared
- Development updates are scheduled and implemented on time
- Relevant trends/best practices constantly researched and proposed
- Security processes and systems in place
What We're Looking For:
- A minimum of 5-7 years PHP experience
- A minimum of 3-4 years Laravel experience and familiar enough with known libraries ex. SPATIE/NOVA/PHPUnit
- Experience with architecting and delivering application/database architectures and RESTful API
- Experience with AWS, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, CircleCi, CI/CD and DevOps
- Exposure to ReactJS/ReactNative/VueJS/Angular would be a plus
- Has prior experience leading a team of developers and growing a team
- Is a self starter and takes initiatives and is passionate about product development
- Have worked in a start-up and has experience with agile, scrum methodologies and fast-paced development environment
- Strong communication skills: you possess the ability to communicate complex problems in a simple and effective way
- Experience with Advertising Technology and Knowledge of digital advertising is a plus
- Experience with E-Commerce is a plus
- Experience with basics of cyber-security is a plus
- Prior experience working remotely is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar
- Fluent in written and spoken English
